PROGRESS

EMPATHY

We are required to choose 3 out of the 12 prompts to start our very first assignment for CCTS for the further exploration of the 4 design processes. EMPATHY is the 1st process. These are the prompts that I have selected:

1. Something BLACK

2. Something PECULIAR

3. Something BRIGHT

EMPATHY

Something BLACK

The first few black things that came to my mind was the universe, animals, plants, food, drinks, diseases, martial arts, plane and vehicles. I have further developed with abstract aspects like psychology & feelings one

EMPATHY (3).jpg

Something PECULIAR

There are a great number of things around our world. For example, I have listed 4 different categories in the picture here on the right side, which are the locations, animals, monsters as well as planets. I love things that are not really common, so these are among the categories that I am really interested in

Something BRIGHT

For something that's bright, it's pretty easy to find them. I have similarly separated them into 4 categories, which are light, hollow, person and colour. Then, I further explained them by providing examples as well as images for each of them

DEFINE

2nd design process, DEFINE, I have further explored with the 3 prompts that I have chosen in my own perspectives instead of searching the internet for others' opinions or ideas. Questioning myself again and again regarding what do the prompts actually mean and what they can produce as the outcome is one of the most common things that I have been doing throughout the entire assignment

DEFINE

Defining & Combining

I have started to combine the 3 prompts and redefine them deeper to understand more. In my opinion, something BLACK & something BRIGHT can be something that is ABSTRACT. Although something BRIGHT & PECULIAR might be opposed to each other, I have managed to get an idea of " A Powerful, Wealthy, Soulless Person"

Narrating

From the redefining as well as questioning myself about the 3 prompts, I began to narrate out a plot for my assignment. My inspiration came from the dark reality of this society and how the apex personnels in this world might be and how they treat the people under them. Some of them even lost their families due to their ignorance and selfishness, especially what they have done in order to acquire more money

Justifying

After having a basic narrative, I have started to justify my points and why I have written down each of them. I have come out with a loop thing as a result provided with explanations and justifications around. Most of them are the cause and effect of each of their actions

IDEATION

After having the concepts & narratives settled, I have begun to illustrate them digitally. I'm not really expert in drawing manually, so i have decided to use softwares in my laptop to assist me. This is not an easy job for me as I have to think of several illustrations that can represent the messages I would like to bring

IDEATION

Idea 1: RUTHLESS POLITICIANS

The 1st idea of mine was about the politicians or nation leaders cruelly dominate the world and ignore the weak or poor ones hence creating different social classes, which will eventually cause chaos, objections or even protests around the world as those people are willing to fight for their rights as well

IDEATION.jpg
IDEATION (3).jpg

For this 2nd idea, I have chosen a rather-fat businessman being attached gto devil's wings & tail while being chained as well. In the background, there were a great number of people kneeling on the floor begging for wealth. Despite, this businessman is super-rich, deep down inside him, he's a depressed one with a broken family

Idea 2: DEVILISH BUSINESSMAN

Idea 3: LION ON THE BALANCE

For my final idea, I have selected a lion head attached to a human skeleton with muscular arms. This symbolise that the character has great power & can rule the nation or even the world. However, the skeleton represents that this character is a soulless person. At the same time, there is a gigantic uneven balance in the background symbolising that justice has not arrived

IDEATION (2).jpg

After multiple considerations, I have selected idea 3 to further develop on. This is because that it gives me a really deep meaning behind all those combined illustrations. I feel that idea 3 is probably the best that can bring out the messages that I would like to bring out in this assignment

PROTOTYPE

PROTOTYPE

Initial

I have initially used cash as my background which symbolises as one of the causes of greed. For the main character, I have merged several ideas together, with a rather-fat businessman with devil's wings & tail connected with muscular arms holding an uneven balance & the eyes of Ra & Horus respectively

Improvement

I have changed the background to a broken house. At the same time I have changed the eyes of ra & Horus to be chaining the 2 muscular arms instead of being chained. I have added the excalibur on the right hand with a dead skeleton hanging on to symbolise that a lot of people have died due to the financial problems & burdens

Adjustments

I have ultimately changed the background again to a destructed city to represent as a jettisoned dream. Besides, I have substituted the head & upper body of the businessman with a lion's head symbolising the ultimate power. Whereas for the lower body, I have changed to skeletal feets as a symbolism of death, mortality & soulless. While, lastly, I have added a small lioness as the manipulated & powerless people

OUTCOME (FINAL WORK)

This is the final work that I have finally produced for this 1st assignment of CCTS

Thinking & Problem Solving Skills

I was able to think critically on putting which information required, to think creatively on the arrangement of the information

Lifelong Learning

I was able to carry out researches and selectively choose the related & relevant informations

Intrapersonal Skills

I was able to manage my time quite well as I was able to complete all 3 posters 2 days before the submission day. I wasn't facing much difficulties or problems as I was according to my own schedule
